It will protect your Ipad in every way EXCEPT water damage. Water can pretty easily slip through the flex points where the charging port and headphone ports are.

The speaker has access to outside air, so it's still very listenable.

Otherwise, these things are really tough and can take tons of abuse of all kinds.

No there are holes in it for the camera, earbuds and charging cord. It is not concealed like the Armour or Lifeproof cases you can purchase for phones.

The Defender Series cases will definitely protect your iPad from from minor spills, but it is not waterproof! My daughters have spilled juice and milk on their iPads and I usually dry off the case as soon as possible and sometimes take the iPad out of the case to make sure no moisture got inside. So far so good! More than I can say for my MacBook Pro after my one daughter accidentally spilt water on it...

However I have an Otter Box Amour Series for my iPhone 5 and it is waterproof for up to 30 minutes at 6 feet! I haven't taken it swimming yet to test it out but my other daughter did drop it in the bathtub once and it survived! I'm just waiting for Otter Box to make these for my iPads and I'll be set!

answer 5
Defender makes it water RESISTANT, NOT WATERPROOF. Have survived direct rain, drool, and wet backpack. No experience with spills though.

Sound quality is clear within case but not as loud as without case. To me, the protection is a trade off.

answer 6
It is water and grime resistant. But it is not waterproof. In my experience it protects well from a reasonable drop height of about 3.5 feet.

The speakers are not coveted which allows the sound to flow out of the case.

I used my IPad sometimes in light rain ---> no problem
Dried the case with a towel and there was no humidity inside the case.

The sound is the same as without this Case

Although the case is not rated as being waterproof, it sure helps if you do have a Defender case on your iPad. My iPad was dropped into a sink of water and was covered with water about 2 inches deep for around 20 seconds. Luckily, all the port covers on the Defender case were closed. Got it out of the water and pulled it out of the case. Found just a few drops of water inside the hard shell case. Used a hair dryer on all the areas of the iPad that might have been affected then left the iPad in a closed car in the sun all day (the iPad was not in direct sunlight). At the end of the day, I powered up the iPad and it worked just fine and is still working after 3 months. If my iPad had gone in the water with out the Defender case, there is no doubt that it would have been ruined instantly. In addition, it's been knocked off a desk and fallen out of my truck with NO damage. Now the iPad Defender case is a little heavy and bulky, but it protects your device. I have Defender cases on all my applicable devices.

answer 10
It does not protect against water. There is an opening on the end for the speaker and nothing covering the camera so water can get in both of those places. Because of the hole for the speaker sound quality is perfect.

I have the iPad 2 case. But, when I got my OtterBox I had already put a military grade screen protector on my ipad that I did not remove. I kept the clear screen that's attached to the OtterBox too. I have had no issues with the touch screen. It's just another welcome layer of protection., So while in theory you could punch out the clear screen, I don't think it's necessary or advisable.

Yes,

I just used an exacto knife to remove the cover from the hard plastic top. I do not like any screen protectors, so this works for me. AND, when not in use I clip the stand in front to protect the screen (like when it is in my backpack).

I had this same problem. Go to the OtterBox web site. Comply with the necessary pics of your cover showing the mishap, also the numbers located on the inside of your case. Download all to the given department and you will receive a new one. It is as easy as that! There are clear instructions to guide you through this process. If you want, call them and the process can be done via the phone. They are a good Company and value their good rep, so going the distance to keep a valued customer is all in a days work, for them. Isn't that refreshing to hear in our all so modern age? Enjoy your new cover!
